Description: Fertile single cross hybrid with very stable grain yields, primarily intended for picking of the ear. Release of moisture from the kernel is moderate. AS73 is a very adaptive hybrid in different growing conditions, levels of agricultural technology and endures poorer soils well. This hybrid has a taller, firm stalk, with medium high inserted ear. The stalk remains green at the time of full maturity. AS73 has the biggest ear of all the AS hybrids, 26-29cm long with 14-16 rows of deep, healthy and yellow dent kernels. Picking is easy and ''clean'' and is performed by pickers. The ear is well preserved in corn cribs.
Tolerance to diseases, pests and drought: In the multiannual trials in Serbia (2006-2008) this hybrid showed high tolerance to all major corn diseases (Ustilago mayidis, corn ear rot, corn reddening etc.) and corn pests (the corn borer). Sprouting of grains within the ear was not noticed. High grain yields in all growing regions during the dry 2007 season only confirmed the tolerance of the hybrid to stressful drought conditions and high temperatures.
Breeding technology: For maximum grain yields, AS73 requires medium growing density, recommended sowing density: 50 – 53.000 plants/ha (27-29cm). Adjust the plant density to your conditions, on better soils sow more densely and on the poorer ones sow less. For the silage sow around 10% more densely than the recommended sowing density. In the conditions of reduced plant population, AS73 produces very large ears and can again provide you with premium yields. Start picking the ears by pickers when kernel moisture falls below 27%.
EXCEPTIONAL ADAPTABILITY TO ALL GROWING CONDITIONS WITH STABLE, SECURE AND HIGH GRAIN YIELDS.
